Funeral Services for Thelma Louise Jackson Wallace, 85, of Chandler, Texas are scheduled for 11 am Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Chandler, Texas. Rev. Carl George will be officiating. Burial will be in the Chandler Community Cemetery under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Company.

Thelma passed away on September 7, 2017 at home in Chandler, Texas.

Thelma was born January 12, 1932 to the union of Alto and Carrie Lee Jackson in Chandler, Texas. She is the 11th and last child born to the union. Thelma celebrates this day with her twin sister, Velma.

She joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. While serving as a member of the choir, she soon transitioned into the role of musician; serving Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years.

She married John Wallace of Chandler, Texas in 1952. To this union, one son, Milton, was born. After marriage, she played for Macedonia Baptist Church of Chandler, Texas for over 55 years. Overall, Thelma played for over 70 years and the pianist experienced her last song on Friday, August 11, 2017.

Thelma attended and graduated from Central High School ("The Dragons") in Moore Station, Texas (1950). She received her Bachelor's Degree (1955) from Texas College in Tyler, Texas. Afterward she earned her Master's Degree (1971) from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas where she walked across the stage with glee.

For 39 years, Thelma challenged and educated great minds of many children (the first 8 years in Chandler, Texas and the last 31 years in Terrell, Texas). During her career and in retirement, her life exemplified a model of excellence and became a testimony that helped others to grow as human beings.

Painting became her therapeutic hobby. She worked late into the night, after a long hard day in the classroom, to create her visions of art. Although creating excellence on canvas, she released only one of over 100 creations.

Her endless philanthropic gift of time, talent, money and love made her special in the hearts of all who knew her. She always willingly served to promote others and the gospel.

Preceding her in death are her parents: Alto Jackson & Carrie Lee Jackson; husband: John Milton Wallace; three sisters: Bettie Mae Lemons, Marjorie Jackson, Velma Runnels; six brothers: Bennie C Jackson, Earlie Jackson, Horace Jackson, Esther Jackson, Winifred Jackson, Ruth Junior Jackson; two grandchildren: Joshuanna and Paul Wallace.

She leaves to cherish her memories: son, Milton Wallace(Gwen); one brother: Obie Jackson(Lillian)--Chandler, Texas; Special niece: Michelle Robinson and her family--Irving, Texas; Brother and Sister In-Laws: Jim and Alice Breedlove--Duncanville, Texas; Grant and Charlie Barrett-- Duncanville, Texas; Waylan and Pearlie Wallace--Dallas, Texas; Abraham Devereaux--Tyler, Texas; Grace Jackson-- Chandler, Texas and Earnestine Phelps--Arlington, Texas; God daughters: Lisa Daniels Sims and Alisa Sterrett. A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.

Milton Wallace, your son
Mama, words can not describe how much I love and respect you. You made so many sacrifices for me and gave me the chance to dream and achieve my goals in life. You taught me how to give! Not just money but time and of myself to others. What a great mother you were and although you have gone on to glory, your legacy on this earth still shines in me and those that knew and loved you.

Your son,
Milton Wallace
