Funeral services for Roscoe Mumphrey, 92, of Tyler are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Miles Chapel CME Church with the Rev. Willie McCalister officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Brooks-Sterling & Garrett Funeral Directors.

Mr. Mumphrey died April 27, 2013, in Tyler.

He was born Nov. 6, 1920, in Gregg County to the late Frank and Annie White-Mumphrey and was a lifelong resident. He attended Dunbar School. He was a member of Universe CME and Miles Chapel CME churches where he sang in the male chorus and served as a church steward. He recently received an award for being a 75-plus year member of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

He was retired from Howe-Baker Engineers (CBI) and had served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Wynn Mumphrey; seven brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include son, Jerry Mumphrey (Gloria), of Tyler; daughter, Flora Carr (Charles), of DeSoto; grandchildren, Tamara Mumphrey-Busby (Eric), Dallas, Tracie Carr, Red Oak, Jerron Mumphrey, New Braunfels, Jennifer Carr, DeSoto; and great-grandchild, Morgan Carr, Red Oak.

Viewing will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
