A memorial service to celebrate the life of Virgil R. Pyatt, age 87 of Hideaway, is scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Lindale. Reverend Rick Ivey and Dr. Jack Cox will be officiating. Services are under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home of Lindale, TX. Mr. Pyatt died Friday, February 2, 2018 from a stroke suffered the previous weekend. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on February 1, 1931 to the late E.T. "Pete" and Dorothy Marie (Siler) Pyatt. Mr. Pyatt also lived in Anchorage, Alaska, Oklahoma City, OK and Plano, TX before moving to Hideaway, Texas in 2013. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City and was a University of Oklahoma graduate. Mr. Pyatt worked for ARCO Oil & Gas as a VP of Exploration Geophysics. He retired in 1985 after enjoying a 35 year career. Mr. Pyatt was a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, The American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the First United Methodist Church in Lindale and various other Christian church organizations. He also served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Pyatt of Hideaway; son, Mark Pyatt and wife, Kim of Plano, TX and Hideaway; daughter, Margaret Pyatt-Brotherton and husband, Michael of Flint, TX; sister, Barbara Marshall of Edmond, OK; 4 grandchildren, Sarah and Blake Pyatt of Plano; Thomas Barr of Austin; Jennifer Joyce of Sachse; niece, Julia Kauffeld of Siloam Springs, AR. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials may be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, Texas 75701 or to the , 501 St, Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
