Services for Ora L. Fortenberry, 90 of Whitehouse, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Whitehouse with Rev. Matt Thomas officiating, under direction of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Whitehouse Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Ora was born August 21, 1928 to the late Samuel and Twillie Moore and was raised in Arp, and attended Arp Schools. After marrying Harold in 1967, they moved to Whitehouse in 1973 and built their house, she currently still owns and lived in. Ora was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked for over 20 years at G. E. in Tyler, ending her career as office manager. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Whitehouse. She enjoyed working outside with her plants and flowers, visiting with her friends and spending time with her family. She has a contagious joy about her and always had a smile on her face. She made the best chocolate pecan pies and yeast rolls that we would fight over at holiday dinners. She didn't like when other seniors would ask her how old she was, because they couldn't believe she was still driving.

She was a spitfire that you would want to put in your pocket and take home once you met her. She was dearly loved and will be missed, but we know we will get to see her again one day.

Ora was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Harold James Fortenberry. Survivors are her sons and daughters-in-law, Charlie and Oneitta Fortenberry of Murchison and Don and Debbie Eschberger of Madisonville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
