Obituary

Noel Polk Parker was born on November 8, 1922, to Orion and Floice Parker at Hatchie Bottom farm, Whiteville, Tennessee, the home of his grandfather, Polk Parker. Noel went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 8, 2019. Noel and his only brother Glenn worked on the family farm while attending a one-room schoolhouse in Vildo. He graduated from Whiteville High School as Valedictorian of his class. He attended Memphis State University until he was drafted into the Army in his Junior year. After the war, Noel was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant, and returned home where a mutual friend introduced him to Emogene Brown, the greatest gift in his life on this earth, stating until his last breath "I am so glad that God brought us together."

Noel built a career in the newly created computer field, working as a programmer and system's analyst for several companies, including NASA, General Electric, Texas Instruments, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. While working and raising a family of three children, Noel completed his education, which had been interrupted by the war. His second career, and where he invested so much of his heart and energy, was his work in the church. Noel has served as a Bible School teacher, a deacon, and an elder. He had a passion for evangelism and worked diligently in bringing the lost to Jesus. He personally supported mission work in several places, with Nigeria being one of the dearest to him. Noel fully supported Linus Inyang, a Nigerian minister. Noel never met a stranger and made an indelible impression on everyone he met. He would talk to anyone, for as long as they could allow. He enjoyed most spending time with family. He also enjoyed being a handyman, going fishing, woodworking, maintaining a home aviary, and especially surrounding himself with nature and her abundance.

Noel is survived by his wife Emogene of the home; three children, Jerry and Suzan Parker of Tyler, Texas, Jeanese and Bob Bailey of Porter, Texas, Stephen and Charlotte Parker of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Jason Parker, Brandon Parker and wife Cara, Chad Bailey and wife Katie, Tyler Bailey and wife Ruth Ann, Brent Bailey, Andrea Hancock and husband Tyler, Travis Parker and wife Natalie; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Owen Parker, Lillian, Preston, and Brayden Parker, Ella, Spencer, and Ian Bailey, Hannah Bailey, Canan Parker and Callahan Hancock, and Elliott Parker.

A service will be held Monday, April 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
