He was born Oct 15, 1951 in Inglewood, CA to Paul Hingtgen & Mary Grota & has lived in Tyler since 1990

Nick attended school in CA before moving to Utah. He met & married his wife Cheryl in 1980 & moved to Texas in 1982 where he started his career with the Snap on Tools organization. In 1990 he moved to Tyler where he taught high school auto mechanics at John Tyler & Atlanta TX.

After 20 years of teaching he retired & went to work for Motor Trike. 5 years later he retired again & decided to travel & play golf. Nick is known for his sense of humor & a huge heart, and he never met a stranger. He would do anything for anyone. He loved to build & remodel homes. He built his home on Lake Tyler, did numerous habitat builds & spent part of his retired time remodeling his home on the Oakhurst Golf Course. Nick was an active member of the Shriners.

He was a mentor to his students & a devoted husband, son & father.

Nick is preceded in death by Paul Hingtgen & Mary Grota Hingtgen.

He is survived by his loving wife Cheryl, daughter Candice Gifford, her husband Chuck & grandson Kyle from Pflugerville TX, sister Susan Nash & husband Richard of the Woodlands, brother David Hingtgen & wife Donna of Ponca City OK, & numerous nieces, nephews & great nieces & nephews.

Celebration of Life for Nick will be held on May 12th from 2-4 in the Rose Room at the Rose Garden, Tyler TX
