Linda Cox, loving wife, dedicated mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
Linda was born November 8, 1947 in Jacksonville to Willis and Rosa (Sharp) Hamilton.
Linda grew up in the Concord Community graduating Class of 1966 from Carlisle ISD. She met her sweetheart, Andy, watching him play basketball for the New Summerfield Hornets. After they married and began a family, they established Concord as their home where she lived most of her life. Linda began her work career at Troup Bank and Trust, then served as secretary/treasurer at Cox's Plant Farm in New Summerfield and Mansfield. After Andy was called to preach, she served 20 years as a Pastor's wife. Overall her favorite role in life was being a loving "Granny"!
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; a brother, Bennie Hamilton and son-in-law, Gary Sowders.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 52 years, Andy Cox of Concord; daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea and John Dunnahoe, Amanda and Steven Searcy, all of Concord, and Claudia and Kenny Gill of Tyler; siblings, Wanda Childers and Marsha Mosley, both of Concord and Tim Hamilton and wife Pam of Arp. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Shauna Stewart (Chris), Samantha Jones (Seth), Chelsea Dunnahoe (Chris Flores), Emily Dunnahoe (Ben Ayers), Cameron Searcy (Ashton), Whitney Goode (Travis), Nadalie Gill and Preston Gill; great-grandchildren, Mykela, Micah and Sadie Stewart, Parker Jones, Kamdyn and Kase Searcy, Wren and Teal Goode; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, February 7, 2019 and friends are cordially invited to visit with Linda's family from 6 to 8 o'clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
A funeral service for Linda Cox, age 71, of Jacksonville, is scheduled at 2 o'clock in the afternoon Friday, February 8, 2019 at Martin Chapel Church of Nazerene in Troup. Rev. Connie Ramos, Rev. Steven Oakes and Rev. David Baker will officiate. Mrs. Cox will be laid to rest at Concord Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Pallbearers will be John Dunnahoe, Steven Searcy, Kenny Gill, Camerson Searcy, Preston Gill, Chris Stewart, Seth Jones and Travis Goode.
