Funeral services for Mr. John A. Williams, III, age 81, of Lindale, Texas are scheduled for 3:00 P.M Sunday, April 7, 2019 in the New Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Towns, Rev. Kenneth Meadows, Rev. Ron Wells and Bro. Robbie Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Lindale City Cemetery with services under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. John died Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at his residence in Lindale, in the arms of his wife. He was born May 16, 1937 in Dallas, Texas to the late John Augustus, Jr. and Lurlyne (Cannon) Williams. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1955. John attended Southern Methodist University (SMU) and graduated with a BBA in 1959. While at SMU, he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity Delta-Pi Chapter. After John's graduation, he worked in his father's printing company, John A Williams, Printer. In the mid 1960's, John took over management of Ben Griffith Enterprises as CEO and managed 19 companies under that name. Later John worked for many years as a real estate developer under the guidance of George Shafer and John Stemmons.

In the past years he and Bambi Herndon owned East Texas Realty and most recently John worked at Century21 as a real estate broker. He retired many times but enjoyed real estate and people so much he kept going back to work.

He enjoyed collecting pre-Columbian art and antiques, fishing, hunting and playing tennis. He also had a love for flying and held a pilot license for many years. He owned his own planes and would fly to his hunts or to go skiing.

He read through his Bible every year since 2004 and was known to give chronological Bibles to several of his friends and even strangers.

John served his community with great pride. Among his participation, he served as past president of the Lindale Rotary Club, past president of the Lindale Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and past master mason of the Colfax Masonic Lodge #904 in Van. He was preceded death by his sister, Betsy Kuebler.

John is survived by his wife, Kathy Hopkins Williams of Garden Valley; children, Leslie Klingman of Dallas, Texas, Lorrie Beck and husband, Walt of Colorado Springs, Colorado, John A. Williams, IV and wife, Sophia of Denver, Colorado, Teresa Wickham of Hideaway, Texas and Shelby Tucker and wife, Joey of Hallsville, Texas; grandchildren, Evan Howell, Carson Klingman, Matthew Beck, Hayden Beck, Anderson Wickham, Lawrence Wickham, Gracie Tucker, Levi Tucker and Baby Girl Williams who is due on April 22, 2019.

Serving as pallbearers will be George Shafer, Jim Hamblen, Barham Fulmer, Don Hines, Duane Fangman and John Wampler. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Daugherty, Jim Mallory, Bobby McClenny, Tom Boone, Joe Terry, Jeff Phelps, Garrett Thomas, John Droblyn and members of the Lindale Rotary Club.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lindale Rotary Club or Lindale High School Drama Department.
