Elinor Randolph Graper died on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at her home in Granbury.
A memorial service will be held at Lakestone Terrace in Granbury on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel. Graveside services will be held in Iowa at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Hood County.
She was born on Dec. 27, 1917, in Nora Springs, Iowa, to James A and Anna Cutler. She earned the Eaglet Award (currently the Gold Award) in Girl Scouts. She attended Principia College in Illinois and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Iowa State Teachers College (currently University of Northern Iowa) and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale University in New Haven, Conn. She worked for Rockwell Collins in Richardson for 16 years in the publication department as a proofreader and editor of technical manuals. She retired in 1978.
She married Ivan Graper on Aug. 19, 1978. They lived in Tyler before moving to Granbury in 2005. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She delighted in the accomplishments of all of her family. She was an avid bridge player, golfer, and reader. She had a wonderful sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2005; and a granddaughter, Kathryn Randolph, in 1985.
She is survived by her son, Paul Randolph and wife Mary, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; daughter Anne Cox, of Denver, Colo., and daughter, Sue Bates and husband Jim, of Granbury; grandchildren, Jennifer Bates Miller and husband Roscoe, of Weatherford, Jill Bates Sczech and husband Joey, of McKinney, Rebecca Bier-Moebius and husband Tyler, of Carbondale, Colo., Abigail Bier Ziv and husband Nathan, of Santa Barbara, Calif., Daniel Randolph, of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; and seven great-grandchildren, Ryland Miller, Brody Miller, Asher Bier-Moebius, Alexis Bier-Moebius, Isabella Bier-Moebius, Taj Bier-Moebius and Oliver Bier Ziv; and a cousin, Margaret Wiley, of Irvine, Calif.
