Funeral services for Dorothy Kashata, 74, of Tyler, Texas are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Pastor John Waak officiating. Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home. The family will be present for visitation Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Dorothy Anne (Steglich) Kashata was born on November 17, 1944 in Paige, Texas to Arnold & Elsie (Schulz) Steglich. She was baptized on November 26, 1944 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas and confirmed on March 22, 1959 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings, Texas. Her confirmation verse was Nahum 1:7, "The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him." Living in Tyler, Texas, the Rose Capital of America, she loved her roses. She was especially proud of her Knock Out Reds and Dream Come True Yellow Blends. She retired from the insurance industry and enjoyed the life of being a grandmother to all of her grandkids. Dorothy passed away the morning of Thursday, January 3, 2019 in Tyler, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dennis Steglich and a nephew, Terry Steglich.

Dorothy is survived by four children, Robert Dodd & his wife Karin of Tyler, Richard Dodd of Tyler, Russell Dodd & his wife, Dusty of Tyler and Rachael Oliver of Tyler; five grandchildren, Thomas Dodd of Tyler, Sheridan Dodd of Tyler, Sarah Withers & her husband, Hunter of Palestine, Cameron Oliver of Tyler and Carleton Oliver of Tyler; two sisters, Kathleen Barta & her husband, Frank of Oklahoma City and Karen Luecke & her husband, Jimmie of Giddings; three brothers, James Steglich & his wife, Delores of Smithville, Jerry Steglich & his wife, Patsy of Giddings and Teddy Steglich & his wife, Becky of Corsicana as well as several nieces and nephews.
