Charles Wilfred "Chuck" Adams (12/14/1927 - 10/25/2018)

The Guest Book is expired.

At 6:55 am on October 25, 2018, Charles Wilfred (Chuck) Adams, Sr. very peacefully departed this earth. Charles was born December 14, 1927 in Trinidad, CO to Rupert Len and Jeffie Erdell Brite Adams who preceded him in death.

Charles proudly served in the United States Navy as a Shipfitter Third Class during World War II and Petty Officer First Class on the USS Sperry during the Korean War. Charles attended college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. He loved his Red Raider football! After he left the service Charles had a long career as an electrician with Shell Pipeline.

Charles and his wife Lora Nell Hartley Adams, who preceded him in death in February of 2008, made their retirement home in Tyler, TX and later Bullard, TX. Charles and Lora would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past July. One of the things Charles enjoyed most was playing golf with many of his friends from Shiloh Road Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting and officiating high school basketball (back in the day!). He coached little league baseball and volunteered with the Eldorado EMS and Fire Department. Charles's greatest joy was his family. He loved to tell people about his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was so proud of each and every one.

Charles was also preceded in death by his first-born grandchild, William Christopher Sorrells. Charles leaves behind his son Charles Adams, Jr. and his wife Gay of Cleburne, TX, his daughter Denise Sorrells and her husband Charlie of Bullard, TX, his son Derrick Adams and his wife Sheila of Kermit, TX and his brother Sam Adams and his wife Joy of Lamesa, TX. Charles leaves behind his 6 grandchildren; Amanda Sorrells of Bullard, TX, Lt. Col Kylie Hester, USAF and husband Captain Chris Hester, USAF who are currently stationed in Japan and Qatar respectively, Colt Adams of Cleburne, TX, Chip Adams and his wife Malia of Granbury, TX, Erinn Adams and her fiance Fernando Aguirre of Austin, TX and Ethan Adams of North Richland Hills, TX. Charles also leaves behind several great- grandchildren and one niece; Kelly Hand and her family of Abilene, TX.

The family would like to thank the Hospice of East Texas for their wonderful care of Charles. A special thanks to Dee Dee for her kindness and care of Charles on a daily basis. Our gratitude is also extended to Charles's care team at the assisted living facility; Shameika Miller, Deborah Sadler and Jennifer Landfair, he loved you guys! We also want to thank his Sitter, Cindy Brown. Thank you for keeping Jesus in his life every day!
