Alice Lois Henderson Usrey passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2019 in Tyler, Texas. She was born September 15, 1924 in Washington County, Arkansas to Wheeler Verdell Henderson and Mellie Jane (Powers) Henderson. After graduation from Fayetteville High School, she received her Bachelor's Degree in French with Highest Honors from the University of Arkansas, and then earned her Master's in French at Duke University. In the spring of 1948, she met Edward Lee Usrey in Abilene, Texas where she was teaching French at Abilene Christian College. Edward Lee was a World War II veteran and a student at Texas A&M, and had ridden a bus to Abilene to visit a younger brother who was a Freshman at A.C.C. Alice and Ed married on September 16, 1949 at her parent's home in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and were married over 53 years, until Ed passed away on February 11, 2003.

Alice and Ed are survived by 3 children, Alice Jane Clark and husband, Mark, of Arvada, Colorado, James Edward Usrey and wife, Billye, of Tyler, Texas, and John Paul Usrey and wife, Carrie, of Midland, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Kevin Maynard, Melanie Webb, Andrea Quesenberry, Marc Usrey, John Paul Usrey, Jr., Amber Sanchez, and April Scott, 14 great grandchildren: Madilyn, Maya and Draper Webb; Ava, Shae and Cole Quesenberry; Luke and Blake Usrey: Blakely and Braylon Usrey; Slade and Londyn Sanchez; Sabree, Hadlee and Bowen Scott.

She is also survived by a sister, Eleanor Comstock, of Muskogee, OK, brothers Paul Henderson of Sherman, TX, and Eugene Henderson of Abilene, TX., and numerous nephews and nieces.
