Funeral services for Albert B. Hill, Jr., 83, of Tyler are scheduled for Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 10:00 am in the chapel of Lloyd James Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery.

Mr. Hill passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday, July 27, 2018 at his home.

He was born on Sunday, May 26, 1935 to the late Albert B. "Mule" Hill, Sr. and Faye Taylor Hill in Tyler, where he lived most of his life.

Mr. Hill graduated from Tyler High School in 1953, where he lettered in football as a quarterback and played pitcher on the Tyler Lion's baseball team. After graduation, Albert played minor league baseball for two seasons with the Baltimore Orioles Baseball Club during the 1954 and 1955 seasons. He later returned to Tyler and became co-owner along with his father of Hill Brothers Wholesale Florists, serving the retail floral industry in Tyler and extended east Texas for more than 30 years.

In 1972, he was ordained as pastor-teacher at Berachah Church in Houston where he studied under the tutelage of Pastor R.B. Thieme, Jr. He later became pastor of Patriot's Church in Tyler. Studying under "the Colonel" enabled him to continue teaching the Word based upon the original Greek and Hebrew languages until his retirement in 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Shirley Ann Hill.

Mr. Hill is survived by his wife Betty H. Black Hill; his sons Kyle Hill of Fort Worth, Brett Hill of Longview, and Lance Hill and wife Jeanna Hill of Lindale; his grandchildren Hillary Davis of White Oak, Kelby Hill of Tyler and Caton Hill of Frisco, CO and one great-grandchild McKenzie Davis of White Oak.

Pallbearers will be Kelby Hill, Kemler Donaho, Christopher Scott and Jacory Howard. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Scarborough, Rodger Taylor, Randy Murphy, Gordon Bryson, Gary Garrison, Dr. S.E. Nolley, and Cary Wofford.

The family will receive friends for a visitation from 5-7 pm on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
