Services for Virginia Atwood, 88, of Whitehouse, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Lloyd James Funeral Home with Brother Randal Brown officiating. Burial will be at the Pine Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Atwood passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007, in Tyler.

She was born Nov. 9, 1918, in Waterloo, Iowa, to the late Ellis and Sadie Tisdale. Mrs. Atwood lived in Smith County most of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitehouse, where she was active in the Day Care Center, Happy Hearts and Hope Class. She was also active in many civic and community organizations including the Library, AARP, Widows Support, and the FCE Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, B.J. Rusty Atwood, and a brother and a sister.
Survivors include sons, Gordon Wayne Atwood of Tyler, and Sammy Lowell and wife Claudia Atwood of Crystal Beach; daughter, Gay Hutchins of Whitehouse; sisters, Mrs. Lola Snyder of Port Arthur, and Mrs. Dorothy Berry of California; grandchildren, Staci Scott, Mark Martin, Stephani Brown, Shawna Murphy, Josh Atwood, and Amanda Julian; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mason Martin, Blake Scott, Chase Scott, Brock Brown, Josh Julian and Todd Murphy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Royce Hutchins, Larry Atwood, Ronnie Atwood, Johnny Paul Atwood, Fred Wayne Atwood, Roy Jack Atwood, Greg Snyder and Scott Snyder.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
