Memorial services for Elbert Eugene "Gene" Reynolds, 77, Tyler, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at Lloyd James Funeral chapel with Dr. Jeffrey Wilson of the First Christian Church of Tyler officiating. Private family graveside services will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. Mr. Reynolds passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, in a Tyler hospital. He was born May 30, 1929, in Beaumont to the late Archie H. and Ola Rounsaville Reynolds. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as a deacon. Further, he participated with the Sharon Temple Shrine organization. Mr. Reynolds, a graduate of Tyler High School Class of 1946, served proudly in the United States Navy and the United States Naval Reserve until his honorable discharge in May of 1960. Upon returning to Tyler from his service in the Navy, Mr. Reynolds purchased Tyler Armature Works from his father, A.H. Reynolds, and later founded Manufactures Electric Sales. Mr. Reynolds' wife of 49 years, Bobbie Ledford Reynolds, predeceased him on Jan. 24, 2000. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Bill Norris of Harlingen; son, Stephen Reynolds of Houston; sister, Flo Cates of Tyler; and four grandchildren, Christopher, Greg, Brian and Cameron Norris, all of Harlingen. Mr. Reynolds is also survived by nephews, David, Dennis and Dale Cates, all of Whitehouse; in-laws, Roy Ledford, Pete Ledford and Evelyn Martin, all of Troup, Buster and Margaret Ledford of Whitehouse, and Nell and Gene Mitchell of Tyler. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 130577, Tyler, 75713; or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 529, Longview, 75606.
