A celebration of life service for Guy Elam will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Hilliard Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Garrison officiating.
Mr. Elam passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Jan. 13, 2014, with family and friends by his side.
Guy Cecil Elam Jr. was born Nov. 7, 1922, in Mesquite. He had been a resident of Hideaway for 24 years, formerly living in Dallas. He spent eight and a half years in the service, serving in the U.S. Marines, Army and Air Force. He retired from White Motor Co. after 28 years, and then joined Joe Woods Sales in Dallas. He was a member of Hideaway Community Church and enjoyed playing golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Cecil Elam Sr. and Dottie Elam Geeslin; sister, Evelyn Brawley; daughter, Paula Lynn Elam; and granddaughter, Lesley Ann Greene.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty Elam, of Hideaway; daughter, Guyanne Greene, of Kenner, La.; and grandson, Joseph Greene.
Memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice in Tyler.
