Services for Alfred E. Pylant, 78, of Tyler will be on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Mike Thomley, minister of Rice Road Church of Christ, officiating.
A graveside service will be on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at 10 a.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Pylant passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, in Tyler.
He was born Oct. 29, 1934, in Snyder to Ercie and Mary Pylant.
Alfred married Phyllis Haynes on Dec. 19, 1954, after serving a tour of duty in the U.S. Navy.
Alfred was a member of the Rice Road Church of Christ, where he had served as an elder and Bible study teacher.
Mr. Pylant was preceded in death by his father, Ercie Pylant; mother, Mary Pylant Reeves; stepdad, Donald Reeves; brother, Cliff Pylant; and sister, Glenda Pylant Denham.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Haynes Pylant; children, Dana Tankersley and husband Tom, of Vicksburg, Miss., Judy Gonzales and husband Fred, of Grapevine, and David Pylant and wife Sherry, of Bonham; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Gonzales, Taylor Tankersley, Wayne Gandy, Hal Lister, Art Sharp and Jerry Carson.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
