Virginia Bowman

Obituary

Virginia went to be with her Lord on Oct. 15, 2012. She was born on Oct. 18, 1947, to the late Delmar R. and Geraldine Rainey Van Sickle and lived her life in Tyler.

She attended Chapel Hill schools and graduated from the Tyler School of Business. She was employed by SMWLU 337 for 12 years, retiring in 2011 due to her illness.

Virginia was an avid outdoor person, loving to hunt and fish and work in her yard, and enjoyed crafts, making quilts and pottery. She was fortunate to have been able to see how wonderful God's handiwork really is, traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada.

She was a member of New Life Baptist Church for 26 years and a former member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, W. Learmon Van Sickle.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Edward "Butch" Bowman, the love of her life for almost 47 years; daughters, Teresa Fuentes, Jeanine Bowman Hall, both of Tyler; son, Bruce Bowman of Tyler; grandchildren, Joshua Bowman, Jacob Bowman, Lauren Mervin, Christopher Castle, Cameron Castle, Michala Fuentes, Michael Hall and Melisa Bowman; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Clements of Flint, Wanda McCoy of Winona and Jackie Jackson of Tyler; and one brother, Virgil Van Sickle.

Her funeral will be at New Life Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, with Bro. Walter Jones officiating under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors. Interment will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
