Dorothy Frank Nicholson, 83, left this life for her heavenly home Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012.

Dorothy was born Jan. 11, 1929, in New York City, and moved to Tyler in 1949, where she remained a resident for 63 years. After retiring from Sears, where she worked for 34 years, she enjoyed spending time with her husband of 60 years, spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, knitting, needle point work, reading, attending church, Nicholson family dinners, visiting neighbors and shopping. She was a member of Grace Community Church, where she had many friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Dean Nicholson. She is survived by her children, Richard Nicholson and wife Bridget of Shreveport, La., Harriet Bradberry McCoy of Tyler and Nancy Nicholson of Bullard. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shane Nicholson and wife Kristie, Nikki Hudson and husband Eric, all of Shreveport, Jody Van Ostrand and husband Scott, of Spring, Holly Hargett, Bret Bradberry and wife Jana of Tyler and Ashley Walker and Nick Walker of Bullard; 10 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to her friend and caregiver, Reesee Butler.
A memorial service to honor the life of Dorothy, will be held at Grace Community Church Chapel, on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at 10:30 a.m.
