Paul Shelby Bennett went to his Heavenly Father and to join his earthly father in heaven, April 27, 2012. He was born to Wiley Shelby and Carmen Curry Bennett, Sept. 15, 1965, in Tyler. He was 46 years old. Services will be at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Iron Bluff Cemetery in Lone Star. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2012, at the funeral home. Dr. Bruce Engelman from Fort Worth will officiate at all services.
Paul attended Brook Hollow Christian School in DeSoto, and graduated from Grace Community High School in Tyler in 1984. He was a graduate of Tyler Junior College and Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Brianna Clement Bennett; his mother, Carmen Curry Bennett; brother, Martin Curry Bennett, all of Tyler; and sister, Laurie Anne Tuttle, of Waco. Also, parents-in-law, Carl and Claretta Clement, of Kilgore; four sisters and brothers in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Wiley Bennett, and grandparents, Hugh and Betty Curry, of Lone Star.
Paul was employed by DeHaven Eye Clinic for 25 years and at Bausch & Lomb for one year. He was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Tyler and ministered for 20 years at Briarcliff Nursing Home. His interests were many. He was a student of the Bible and of history, especially Southern history, being a member of the Sons of the Confederacy. He was an outdoorsman. He loved the United States of America and was a dedicated patriot. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Pallbearers will be David Fry, Jaun Maya, Dane Tuttle, Tom Gause, Tharin Mosley and Lee McCormick.
