Funeral services for Emmett Bertrend "Bert" Ball Jr., 63, Mineola, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Mineola, with Dr. Mark Neeley officiating. A graveside service will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday at Laurel Land Cemetery in Fort Worth under direction of Lowe Funeral Home, Quitman.
Mr. Ball died July 20, 2011, in Tyler. He was born Aug. 13, 1947, in Lufkin and lived in Mineola since August 1983.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mineola, where he retired as minister of music. He was part of the Singing Men of Texas for 35 years, and was an encourager to all during his 40 years in the music ministry. Bert left a legacy of faith in his lord and savior Jesus Christ, love for his family and friends and his humor. He loved music and sports, especially Fightin' Texas Aggie football.
Mr. Ball was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Bertrend Ball Sr. and Dorothy Ball. Survivors include wife, Cheryl Ball of Mineola; three daughters and a son-in-law, Jamie and Jeff Sanders of Lindale, Anna Beth Ball of Austin and Dorie Ball of Plano; sister, Becky and Mike Griffin of Poetry; three grandchildren, Jacob, Juliana and Jonathan Sanders; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
