Memorial services for Bonnie Ruth Hays, 71, and Billy Boyd Hays, 68, of Tyler are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Pine Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Brown officiating. Arrangements are with Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors.
Mr. and Mrs. Hays both passed away on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, in Smith County. Bonnie Ruth Walker Hays was born on April 22, 1939, in Eugene Ore. She was an LVN and retired from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Tyler and had worked for the Clairmont Nursing Center in Tyler. She was a member of Pine Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Don Boyd.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Boyd of Overton and Troy Hays of Tyler; two brothers, Larry Bottomiller of Cottage Grove, Ore., and Floyd Walker of Poulsbo, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
Billy Boyd Hays was born Dec. 7, 1942, in Tyler. He served in the U.S. Air Force, retired from Smith County as a truck driver and was a welder. He was a member of Pine Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by parents: father, Bill Hays and wife Rachel of Whitehouse, and mother, Hazel Love of New Chapel Hill; six sons, Andie Hays of Tyler, Billy "Red" Hays of New Chapel Hill, John Hays of Tyler, Ronnie Hays of Winona, Billy Glen Hays of Henderson and Bruce Hays of Winona; two daughters, Elizabeth Blanton of Palestine and Elaine Hays of Tyler; two brothers, Robert Hays of Troup and Gary Skinner of Winona; six sisters, Frances Poeschl of New Chapel Hill, Norma Perkins of Whitehouse, Myrtie Kinnett of New Chapel Hill, Angela Jenkins of Forney, Charlotte Salinas and Judy Curbow, both of Whitehouse; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
