Funeral services for Walter Miles, age 89, of Tyler are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Frankston, with the Rev. Scott Wiley officiating.
Graveside services will be in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery and will include a three man Army Honor Guard.
Services are under direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.
Mr. Miles passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, in Tyler.
He was born Aug. 23, 1921, in Shelbyville.
Mr. Miles and his wife Owena were recently welcomed into the family of First Baptist Church of Frankston. Over the years he served as deacon and on various committees in his local church, served in the United States Army during World War II, and was founder and owner of Porter Ready Mix in Porter. Mr. Miles retired in the mid-80s to a life of gardening and fishing. He moved to Tyler in 1993.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melton Harvey Miles and Alice Lenora Brown Miles, and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include wife, Owena Miles of Tyler; daughter, Ruth Price of Frankston; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott Price and Jennifer Lyn Rhodes; many nieces and nephews; and numerous very dear friends.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Miles, Dick Ross, Bobby Allbright, Ronnie Frields, A.J. McGraw and Charlie Rhodes.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be to the charity of the donor's choice.
