A graveside service will be held for Richard "Dick" Jett Sr. on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 10 a.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler with the Rev. Richard Luna officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Richard "Dick" Jett, 86, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. He was born on June 20, 1927, in Duncanville to Richard Croker and Violette Brand-
enburg Jett.
After graduation from Duncanville High School, Dick volunteered for Army service at age 17 and served his country during World War II and, afterward, in the Army Reserve. He graduated from Texas Christian University in 1949. Dick married Wanda Maness on Sept. 6, 1952, in Longview. They moved to Tyler in 1956 where they owned Jett's Clothing and Furniture on the square in downtown Tyler for 40 years. They had been members of Pollard UMC for 57 years.
Dick is survived by his wife, Wanda; children, Rick Jett and wife Michele, of Tyler, John Jett and wife Cindy, of Austin, Janie Tate and husband Jon, of Longview; grandchildren, Brittany Bisetti and husband Ryan, Natalie Orr and husband Matt, Jonathan Tate and wife Stephanie, Wes Jett and Audrey Jett; great-grandchildren, Saydee Tate and Tate Bisetti; brother-in-law, Bob Maness and wife Jo Ruth, of Longview; special friends, Dr. Bill Read and Bobby Crone; and two nieces and a nephew.
The family extends deep appreciation for the loving care of Dick to Drs. Douglas Coltman, George Plotkin, Radford Tarry, Clayton Whitney and Mrs. Becky Davis. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the wonderful staff and aides at Longleaf Meadows Memory and Nursing Care (Meadowlake).
Visitation will be Friday, April 25, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler.
