Walter Todd lived a full 88 years. He was married for 61 years to a woman he loved and took great care of to the very end. He loved his family, worked hard, held a lifelong love affair with jazz and blues, played a mean guitar and harmonica, had an intense interest in space and space exploration, and was kind to animals.
He passed away Feb. 8, 2017, at home with family.
He was born in Tyler July 29, 1928. He attended Rice Elementary, Tyler High School, and Sam Houston State University where he earned a BA in Science and a Masters in Education. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Della Wariner Todd; sister, Marie Todd Dusek and husband Dan Dusek; daughter, Leslie Todd and husband Ralph Neal; son, Walter Lee Todd III and wife Cori Todd; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and other relatives.
He was a member and Sunday school teacher at Mount Carmel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian LaPeyre Todd and Walter Lee Todd Sr.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
