Funeral service for Mr. Vernon Polk, Sr., 62, Whitehouse is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Jarrett Polk, Sr. officiating.

Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Whitehouse, TX under the direction of Community Funeral Home of Tyler. Mr. Polk died April 5, 2017 at his residence.

He was born August 31, 1954 in Henderson and had resided in Tyler since 1970. Mr. Polk attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School in Wichita Falls and Air Force Academy High School in Colorado Springs.

He received an honorable discharge from the U. S. Navy. Mr. Polk was a member of Mitchell Chapel Pentecostal Church, and Love Sanctuary in Wichita Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Radie and Naomi Polk, brothers; Herman Polk, Wayne Polk and Sylvester Jones, sisters; Alice Winston and Helen Craft.

Survivors include his wife; Mrs. Arretha Kelly Polk, son; Vernon Polk, Jr., 2 brothers; Radie Earl Polk, Colorado Springs, and Lee Mitchell, Wichita Falls, 5 sisters; Eula Polk Pona, Sherry Busby (Colorado Springs), Neva Bracken, Connie Jordan, and Sandra Simpson all of Wichita Falls.

Public viewing will be Friday, April 14, 2017 from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm at Community Funeral Home of Tyler Chapel.
