Funeral service for Mrs. Veris Williams, 90, will be 11am, Saturday at Greater St. Mary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. M. K. Mast, eulogist. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co. Mrs. Williams transitioned January 5, 2018 in Dallas.

Veris was born January 16, 1927 in Tatum, Texas to Abe and Katie Smith. She graduated from Harmony Hill High School in Tatum, Texas, Texas College with a Bachelor of Arts, and Texas Southern with a Masters of Education. Mrs. Williams was an elementary school teacher for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Gallup, New Mexico from 1954-1962. She taught elementary school for TISD from 1963-1988, teaching at TJ Austin and Douglas.

She was a faithful member of Greater St. Mary Baptist Church. She married Floyd Williams and moved her membership to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas where she was a faithful member until her death.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Floyd Williams, parents, and eight siblings.

Left to cherish her memories include: son, Byron Kennedy (Tamra); granddaughter, Shika Morgan (Eric), Aleshia Walker, and Keshia Cain (Marcus); great- grandsons, Matthew Morgan, Evan Morgan, Patrick Davis, and Keithan Cain; great- granddaughters, Kennedy Cain and Melonie Cain; along with a host of nieces, nephews,other relatives and friends.
