Susan Mary Spies, beloved mother and grandmother "Kitty" passed away early in the morning of Nov. 25th 2017 peacefully at home in Dallas, Texas after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Susan was born on April 22, 1946 in Tyler, Texas where she grew up with her two sisters and one brother. Her parents Royce Eugene Wisenbaker and Clorinda Di Pietro raised Susan in a loving and happy home in Tyler, Texas. After high school graduation, Susan moved to Dallas to attend Southern Methodist University (SMU) where she was active in Chi-Omega Fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor's and then Master's of Studies in Education.

Susan's priority in life was to be a loving and caring mother to her three children. She was active in the board of Ballet Austin where her daughter Laura was an avid dancer, drove through countless cities while cheering her son Philip through soccer and gymnastics tournaments and spent many hours at dance/drill recitals and competitions with her daughter Mary Margaret. Her children were her life and they were blessed to have her as their mother. Her love of children and teaching led her to become a 3rd grade teacher at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Austin where she enjoyed many years at the school. Her other loves and passions included traveling the world and love of all animals big and small.

She is survived by her three children: Laura Spies Zeballos and husband Pablo, Mary Margaret Spies all of Dallas and Philip Mitchell Spies of Austin and her two sisters Paula Whisenant and Elizabeth Wallace. She mourned the early loss of her brother Royce Wisenbaker. She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Elena Catherine Zeballos, Patrick Collin Zeballos and Cannon Reese Kummet who loved their "Kitty" dearly and will miss her greatly.

Pallbearers are Philip Spies, Pablo Zeballos, Jorge Zeballos, Alvaro Zeballos, Claudio Zeballos and Adian Kummet.

The family gives their deepest thanks and appreciation for the love and care given to Susan by Bertha Cole primary caregiver and caregivers, Ejewel Jefferson and Latasha Doss and all the others who helped make Susan's life happy.
