Services for Samuel M. Garrison, 88, Tyler, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at North Tenneha Church of Christ with Bro. Kennon D. Olison officiating.
Burial will be in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under direction of Community Funeral Home of Tyler.
Mr. Garrison died May 26, 2011.
He was born Dec. 20, 1922, in Baton Rouge, La. He attended McKinley High School and the University of Colorado at Denver. He has resided in Baton Rouge, La., Denver, Colo., Los Angeles, Calif., Vietnam, Guam and Tyler. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1942 to January 1946, (Tuskegee Airmen). He was a member of North Tenneha Church of Christ and a retired engineer from the federal government Army Corps. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and dancing.
He was preceded in death by parents; brother, Lloyd Garrison; and sister, Juanita Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Willie E. "Cookie" Garrison, Tyler; daughter, Lorran (Justin) Garrison-Tracy, Hollywood Calif.; niece, Lynn Johnson; cousin, Alexdezna Marie Douglas; and grandchild, Kanoa Aurelian Tracy.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
