Graveside services with Masonic gravesite rites for Robert Eugene "Bob" Garen, 79, of Tyler are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in Williams Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Ford officiating under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.
Mr. Garen passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013, in Tyler.
He was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Sinking Springs, Ohio, to the late Chester Otto and Gertie Ethel Douglas Garen. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, was retired from T.U. Electric after 31 years and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was also a 32nd degree Mason, belonging to Tyler Masonic Lodge No. 1233 for more than 25 years, was a member of the Scottish Rite, the York Rite and the Sharon Shrine Temple. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Bob is survived by his loving family, his wife of 59 years, Sue Garen, of Tyler; three sons and daughters-in-law, Rickey and Peggy Garen, of Round Rock, Micheal Sr. and Sheree Garen, of Flower Mound, and Tony and Diana Garen, of Tyler; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers are Joey Garen, Micheal Garen Jr., Robert Garen, J.R. Garen and Jared Garen.
