Funeral services for Peggy J. Hampel are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery in Henderson County.
Peggy was born in Murchison to Dr. Arthur and Vinnie Scott Horton on Aug. 29, 1929, and passed away peacefully on Aug. 22, 2013. Peggy graduated from Brownsboro High School and received her degree in education from East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce. She taught school many years in Tyler and Winona and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H.V. Hampel; her parents; eight sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include her devoted sister, Patsy Kromer, of Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal visitation at Peg's request. The family would like to extend deepest appreciation to employees at Waterton Inn for their love, concern and care during Peg's illness.
