Services for Oleta Watson, 80 of Arp, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Bascom United Methodist Church with Dr. Allison Thompson and Rev. Bob Waldman officiating, under direction of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Bascom Cemetery. A reception will follow back at the church after the graveside. The family will receive friends at Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Mrs. Watson passed away at her home in Arp on Saturday, November 11, 2017. She was born December 14, 1936 in Smith County to the late Stirl McDonald Starkey and Bessie May Stephens Starkey. Oleta received her Associates Degree and worked for many different companies in the Tyler area. She has worked in the Insurance industry, worked for The Chapel Hill Junior High School and retired from TxDot as a secretary. She was a square dancer for over 40 years, dancing with the Ramblin Roses and was a member of TOPS (Take off pounds sensibly). She was always helping others, especially by feeding people, whether it be serving potato soup, cookies or one of her hundreds of pound cakes.

She was also a long time member of Bascom United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; by a brother, Stafford Starkey; and by a special sister-in-law, Gerry Starkey.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Hiram Watson of Arp; son, Floyd Watson of Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Adethia and David Rudd of Chapel Hill; brother, Stanley Starkey of Tyler; three grandchildren, Regina Rymal, Bethany Reynolds and Westley Rudd; three great-grandchildren, Gracie, Skeet and Laney Reynolds; and by several nieces, nephews and many friends. Pallbearers will be Scott Starkey, Jerry Lewis, Lonnie Waller, Ronnie Sanders, Mike Randall and Bob Allen.

The family request memorials be made to the Bascom United Methodist Choir Fund, 12565 FM 848, Tyler, Tx. 75707.
