Nancy Christine George Douglas, wife, mother, grandmother and artist, was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Longview, to George Alexander George and Dona Hoss George.
She was a 1958 graduate of Texas Women's University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in journalism and East Texas State University Commerce, with a Masters in Art History. She was a longtime resident of Tyler. She married Frank Ples Jr. on Nov. 17, 1956.
Survivors include her sister, Betty George Craig; brothers, Jack Hoss George and Robert George. Her children, Frank P. Douglas, III, of Rockwall, Laura Douglas Schofield, of Tyler, and Sara Douglas, of Tyler; four grandchildren, Christopher Douglas, Russell Drew Phelps, Frank and Max Douglas. She was preceded in death by a daughter, George Anne Douglas.
She was a long time member of NETFAA (North East Texas Fine Art Alliance), Mineola League of the Arts, a member of Heart of Tyler, Van Zandt Art League and the Galveston Art League.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, in Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
