Lucy Meredith Beerline

Obituary

Lucy Meredith Beerline, be-loved child of Brentley and Jennifer and the light of her family, died suddenly in her sleep on Feb. 19, 2014, not quite four months after her second birthday.
A fighter from the womb, Lucy weighed in at 3 pounds 5 ounces when she was born six weeks early, on Nov. 4, 2011. She thrived in the care of Alta Bates, NICU, and at home, and she taught her parents to be Mommy and Daddy. Joyful, adventurous, and irrepressible, had she made it to grade school, she would have been moved in class for talking. But she was also incredibly affectionate, with kisses and hugs and cuddles galore for her family and friends who loved her right back. In her short life she brought great happiness.
"I had fun!" she would have said.
Lucy is survived by her parents, Jennifer and Brentley Beerline of Oakland, Calif.; grandparents, Buck and Robyn Files; and great-grandmother Allene Files, all of Tyler; grandparents, Don and Joan Beerline of Lafayette, Calif.; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, and her nanny, Sophia Espinoza.
A celebration of Lucy's life will be held at Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church, at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to NICU Fund, Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, c/o Better Health East Bay, 2855 Telegraph Ave., Suite 601, Berkeley, Calif., 94705; or to Montclair Community Play Center (Lucy's favorite Saturday hangout), at 5815 Thornhill Drive, Oakland, Calif., 94611.
