Loutokah Ivy


Services for Loutokah Ivy, 82, of Tyler will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Bennie Portwood officiating.

Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ivy passed away March 4, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease at her residence.

She was born Aug. 25, 1929, in Tyler to Claude C. and Betty Ethel Frizzell Starnes. A lifelong resident of Tyler, Loutokah married Maurice Ivy in 1946, and they raised four wonderful children. Loutokah was a loving wife and mother. She was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ivy was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; one brother; and one grandson, Stephen Cooney.

She is survived by her loving family including her husband of 65 years, Maurice L. Ivy of Tyler; daughter, Ginger Eaton and husband Randy of Tyler; sons, Larry Ivy of Whitehouse, Carl Ivy of Malakoff and Eddie Ivy and wife Jeanne of Tyler; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Claudia Clayton of Dallas.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
