Services for Leonard L. Crawford, 97, of Chandler, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Chandler, with Dr. Jeff McDonald officiating. He will be laid to rest at Chandler Memorial Cemetery with military honors under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Burks Walker Tippit on Monday from 6 until 7 p.m.
Mr. Crawford passed away on Aug. 17, 2013, in Chandler. He was born March 29, 1916, in Tyler to the late John G. Crawford and Carrie Mae Johnson Crawford Rumbo. He graduated from Tyler High School in 1934 and graduated from Tyler Junior College. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and retired as postmaster of the Chandler Post Office. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chandler. He loved children and animals, and was a cattleman for over 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mrs. Ruth Price Crawford, and by two brothers, Albert Eugene and J.W. Crawford.
Survivors include his loving family; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Eugene and Marian Crawford, of Chandler; four granddaughters and their husbands, Tracy and Wade Cook, Lindsey and Sean Little, Elizabeth and Murphy Poole, all of Chandler, and Erin and Chris Thibodeaux, of Tyler; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers are Luke Little, Alexander Edwards, Jonathan Little, Camden Cook, Nicholas Thibodeaux, Ben Little and Frederick Thibodeaux.
Memorials may be made to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation or First United Methodist Church in Chandler.
