Allison Byerley officiating. Interment will be in Hawkins Cemetery. Arrangements are under direction of Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins. In the early morning hours of Monday, July 22, 2013, Juanita Chamberlain Low-rance passed peacefully into heaven to have a joyous reunion with our Lord and her loved ones.
Juanita was born to James and Dora Jenkins Chamberlain on Oct. 14, 1919, in Norton, Kan. She was the consummate educator. She taught the fourth grade for Hawkins ISD, and then became the high school librarian. Reading was her love because she knew that it was the backbone to education. She had degrees from Texas A&M-Commerce.
Juanita graduated from Longview High School. It was after graduation while she was working for the superintendent of schools, Mr. Foster, that she met Robert Lowrance. She always claimed it was because she handed out the paychecks! They married on June 12, 1940, and had a joyous life together for 67 years. There were coaching stops for the Lowrances in Longview, Sabine, Ennis and Iraan. Finally they settled in Hawkins in 1948 and never left.
Juanita was a lover of all things Hawkins. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hawkins, Wood County Retired Teachers, Hawkins Study Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and Hawkins Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed staying in touch with Hawkins exes. She was loved by all.
She is survived by her son, Robert Lowrance Jr. and wife Michelle, and daughters, Mikala, Lela Talley, Keta Bacas and Maya Evans; daughter, Nancy Walker and husband Fletcher, and son, Russell, daughter, Mary Ann Williams and husband Troy, and their children, Kelle Coleman, Keith and Kevin; and brother, Tommy Chamberlain. Other survivors include great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. There are numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; sister, Virginia Miller; brother, James Chamberlain Jr.; and beloved grandson, Andy Walker.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Walker, Keith Williams, Kevin Williams, Wayne Coleman, Fletcher Walker and Troy Williams.
The family would like to especially share appreciation to the entire staff of Park Place Nursing in Tyler for the compassionate care and love shown to our mom.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins.
In lieu of flowers, a gift to the Robert Lowrance Scholarship Fund at Stephen F. Austin State University, in care of Jeff Davis, executive director of alumni affairs, would be appreciated. The address is P.O. Box 6096, SFA Station, 300 E. Vista Drive, Nacogdoches, 75962.
