Joyce Wise peacefully passed away on April 12, 2018 at Hospice of East Texas. She was the beloved wife of Ken Wise. They shared 42 years of marriage together. Born in Tyler, Texas to Wesley and Gladys Moody Edgar, she was a member of the first class at Chapel Hill High School. Mrs. Wise was a founding member of Landmark Baptist Church, attending faithfully for 40 years. She enjoyed family dinners, celebrations, and insisted on overfeeding everyone. She will be remembered as the best wife, mom, and "Granny" in the world. She is survived by her husband; her children, Larry and Angela Smith, Scotty and Gay Smith, and Jerry and Betty Wise; her sisters, Sue Wells and Sandra Hendrix; her brother, Gary Edgar; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wise was preceded in death by her brother, Lex Edgar and first husband, A.J. "Jake" Smith.

The funeral service will be held Monday, April 16, 2018 in the Chapel of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., with Dr. Mike Daniels and Bro. Martin Ibarra officiating. Interment will follow at the Union Chapel Cemetery in Van, Texas. The visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15th at the funeral home.
