A memorial service was held for John Nokes on September 15, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Tyler with Pastor Pike Wisner officiating.

John Lewis Nokes was born October 27, 1950 in California to the late Troy & Betty Roberts Nokes. He has been a resident of Tyler for most of his life. He started several successful pest control companies, including Tyler Pest Control. He enjoyed playing golf and pool with old friends, and loved watching college football, especially his Baylor Bears. He was extremely generous and self-sacrificing. He would help anyone, even if it meant he would go without. He was always the life of the party, and filled the lives of all who knew him with laughter.

John passed away at the age of 67 on September 3, 2018 in Tyler.

Survivors include his children, Christopher Ogden, Allyson McKee-McNeill, Jonathan Nokes and Katherine Nokes; sister and brother-in-law, Connie & Ron Taylor; and three grandchildren, Jay, Maggie & Jake.
