A celebration of the life of Jimmy Paul Moore, 78, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Texas.

He was a resident of the Mixon community in Cherokee County.

Born June 1, 1939 in Jacksonville Texas to Joseph Coy and Norma Virginia Moore, Jimmy went to be with the Lord August 2, 2017, with his family by his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Virginia and brother Tommy.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of 59 years; sons, Russell and wife Donna of Palestine, Jimmy D. and wife Kelley of Flint, and Zachary and wife Shannon of Shreveport, LA; daughters, Robin Moore of Round Rock and Dana Francis and husband Steve of Madisonville, TX; and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Beth Myers and husband Bobby; brothers, Joe Wayne Moore and wife Betty of Alexandria LA, and Lonnie Patterson Moore and wife Georgia of Emerald Bay; Aunt Glenda and Uncle Bob McMakin of Jacksonville, Aunt Linda Deikman of Phoenix, AZ and special friend from childhood, Charles Roper and his wife Nancy.

He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville and a member of the Good Fellows Sunday School class. He also belonged to the Gideon organization.

Jimmy enjoyed several hobbies including knife and walking cane collecting, gardening and wood working. He was a champion of bar-be-que cook-offs, winning several awards.

A private family burial service will be held.

Rather than customary condolences, the family requests that memorials be made to Good Fellows Sunday School Class Scholarship Fund at Central Baptist Church, 1909 E. Rusk, St., Jacksonville, Texas 75766.
