Services for J. David Rothschild, 103, of Tyler, will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Tracy Crawford and Cody Moore officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.
A private graveside will be held at Cathedral in the Pines in Tyler.
Mr. Rothschild passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017, in Tyler.
He was born September 4, 1913 in New York City, New York to Leo S. and Lotta Schongood Rothschild.
David was a member of First Baptist Church in Tyler and the Radio Bible Class. He graduated from Syracuse Public Schools and attended Syracuse University. He enjoyed all winter sports, played semi-pro baseball and was a lifetime Yankees fan.
He served during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was discharged in 1944 as a 2nd Lieutenant with the Army. He was a member of the National Guard Calvary when the Guard was federalized. In 1975, David retired from marketing and sales at General Electric after 31 years.
David was preceded in death by his first wife, Nora Belle Horton Rothschild; his parents; two brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his loving family including wife, Lucie Acker Rothschild; four children by marriage, Mary Jane Moore, Dale (Judy) Acker, Bruce (Kaye) Acker and Carla (Monte) McRee; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
