Memorial services for Georgia Goggin, 87, of Hideaway, Texas, are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Grace Community Church in Lindale with Pastor Lewis Pollard officiating. Services are under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas. Georgia died Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Tyler, Texas. Georgia Lorraine Goggin was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 14, 1929 to the late George Henry and Uneeta Lorraine (Ewing) Baird. Georgia spent 60 plus years in a sport she dearly loved: teaching swimming lessons to 1000's of kids (babies to grands) and competing in Master's swimming meets in Texas, U.S. and internationally. She loved dancing and performing in the "Skyliners" tap dance group in Dallas, and she was an avid cake decorator for many weddings and special occasions. Georgia and John also competed in many track and field Senior Texas Games. They loved to travel, and were often seen on the beaches of Florida, Hawaii and Cancun, or on Safari in South Africa and Kenya. She enjoyed performing with the Hideaway "Get Happy Singers". Georgia attended the Fellowship Bible Church North, Fellowship Dallas, and Grace Community, Hideaway Lake Community and First United Methodist Churches in Lindale. Georgia was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Collins Goggin on July 29, 2009. Georgia is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, David & Janet Goggin of Spring, Texas; daughter & son-in-law, Gina & Mike Shipman of Lindale, Texas; 9 grandchildren & spouses: Amanda & Joe Slusser, Holly Goggin, Noah Shipman, Sarah & Mark Wilkens, Charity Shipman, Enoch Shipman, Elijah & Lauren Shipman, Hezekiah & Patricia Shipman and Uriah Shipman; 5 great grandchildren: Rosalynn & Declan Slusser, Madison Hopson, and Teagan & Johnny Wilkens; sister, Janet Price and family of South Africa; and sister-in-law, Joan Baird and family of Florida.
