Services for George Benjamin "Buddy" Fitts, 96 of Tyler are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 in the chapel of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd McCaskill officiating. He will be laid to rest at Tyler Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Buddy passed away on Friday, February 8, 2018 in Tyler. He was born December 14, 1921 in Dialville to the late John Avery and Ada Jane Bryant Fitts. He graduated high school then joined the U.S. Army Air Corp and served as a Staff Sgt. during WWII. After his service he returned to Tyler where he began his career as a mechanic, working for Oge Oldsmobile for many years. He was a member of Willowbrook Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clara Phipps Fitts in 2008. Also by two brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Angela Fitts and Pamela Dawson and husband David all of Tyler; two grandchildren, Holly Dawson and Stacy Horne; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bill Bagby, John Blalock, Chris Ellis, Rick Ellis, Tommy Garrett and Loyd Hendrick, Jr. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to The Hospice Connection and especially to their caregivers who so lovingly took care of Buddy; Anna Hammond, Tommy Garrett and Crissy Hill.
