Interment will follow in the Lindale City Cemetery with services under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. Ed went to be with his Lord Jesus on September 29, 2017. He was born January 31, 1932 in Richmond, Virginia to Lula Jones and Clarence Henry Ketchie. Ed was the youngest of five children, his siblings all preceding him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Carolyn Eldridge Ketchie of Tyler; daughters Deborah Rae Wozniack of Beaumont; Mary Katherine Manuel, and husband Harold Wayne Manual of Kountze; Kimberly Nowell, and husband Mark Nowell of Lindale; and grandchildren, Kolton Lee Kubin, and wife Kelsey, Kristine Madeline Shanklin, and husband Tyler; Kaitlyn Greer Dockery; one great grandchild due April 2018, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He attended Richmond University on an athletic scholarship, was captain of the baseball team, as well as All-Conference pitcher. Ed received a degree in history and later received an accounting degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. He was a director of finance for Price Waterhouse for a number of years, and later served in various financial positions on a volunteer basis in both Houston and Hideaway. He was a member of the celebration Bible study class at Green Acres Baptist Church. Ed was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid golfer. As a member of the Southwest Football Association he spent many years officiating high school football in and around Houston. Ed, known as Papa, to his grandchildren, loved spending time with them and was known to give words of wisdom, such as "don't panic", "keep calm, Bud", "don't tell everything you know", and "don't do bad things". Our family wishes to thank the Hospice of East Texas team for their kindness and support given to Ed during his illness; special gratitude to his nurse Tammy and aide, Abril. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, prior to the funeral service, at the Caudle-Rutledge Daugherty Funeral Home.
