Burial services for Doyce Neil Barrett, 95, of Emerald Bay will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

A memorial service for Mr. Barrett will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at Emerald Bay Church under the direction of Dr. Darryle Dunks.

Mr. Barrett passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, in Tyler.

He was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Wolfe City to Charles B. and Ruby H. Barrett.

In November 1943 he earned his Navy Wings and was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He flew PBJs (B-25s) in the Pacific Theater. Doyce enrolled at Texas Tech in 1946 and graduated in 1948 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. In 1948 he went to Hobbs, New Mexico, and joined his brother in the accounting firm of Barrett and Barrett.

In October 1952 he was recalled in the Korean conflict where he flew helicopters.

Mr. Barrett was a member of Emerald Bay Church.

He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 56 years, Betty Barrett; brother, Harold Gene Barrett, of Granbury; sons, Michael (Barbara) of Bastrop, Kyle Barrett, of Lubbock; and daughter, Neila Barrett, of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Amy Anaya, Neil Barrett and Kyle Michael Barrett; eight great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be The Golden Tees of Emerald Bay Club.
