David William Phillips, 84 of Tyler, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 in Tyler. He was born to Dwight R. and Anna Mary Kistler Phillips in Logan, Ohio on December 2, 1932. He served overseas in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. David married Mildred Maroni in 1956 and remained so for 48 years until her passing in 2004. He was an accomplished Electrical Engineer and dedicated much of his career to the tire and rubber industry. In 1996, after 32 years of service, he retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. He is survived by his sister Judy Kay of Lancaster, Ohio; two sons, Michael of Warrenton, Virginia and Bryan of Indianapolis , Indiana; and four grandchildren , Zachary, Cara, Jack and Jordan.

Services for Mr. Phillips will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in the Chapel of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Chaplain Wayne Norvell officiating. He will be laid to rest at Pleasant Retreat Cemetery in Tyler. To view online, please go to www.burkswalkertippit.com.
