Clifford Ray Preddy, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning in Tyler at East Texas Medical Center. He was born in Cottonwood, Texas, on November 20, 1934, to Lula and George Preddy.
Clifford graduated from Irving High School in 1953 and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of North Texas in Denton. He loved his then small town high school and attended high school reunions faithfully including the 60th reunion. He was an expert carpenter/cabinet maker. He worked in the building industry selling building materials for several different companies and finished his career after working for Temple Inland Industries for 30 years.
He loved his family who lovingly referred to Clifford as "Big C," he loved golf, and was known for his great sense of humor.
He is survived by family members all who live in Tyler, Texas; his wife of 55 years, Sheila Preddy; his daughter, Gail Boardman and her husband Richard; his son, Allan Preddy and his wife Lisa; his grandchildren, Meredith, Alyssa, Ben, and Aryn; and his sister, Francis Pritchett, of Dennison, Texas.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday April 12, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home and a private interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the First Tee of Greater Tyler, P.O. Box 5329, Tyler, 75712 Attn: Penny Harrison. The First Tee volunteers teach golf to children who would not otherwise be able to play golf.
