Charles "Chip" Frank Harris met Jesus face to face at 9:30am, June the 7th, 2017. He was born May 4th, 1954 to Fred and Frankie Harris in Fort Worth Texas. Visitation will be on Monday June 12th at 1:00pm and funeral to follow at 2:00pm. Both services will be held at Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral home (215 E. Front Street Tyler, TX 75702) and officiated by his close friend of many, many years, Terry Downs.

The graveside service will be held at Tyler Memorial Cemetery immediately following (12053 State Hwy 64, West Tyler TX, 75704).

He is survived by his precious wife, Nancy Harris, his sister Peggy Trakes and her spouse Sheridan of Pagosa Springs, CO, his two sons Jordan and Andrew Harris and his daughter Kathryn Harris.

Chip was born the youngest of three and was adored throughout his childhood by his two older sisters Anne and Peggy. Many of his earliest memories were traveling through Texas with his father on sales trips. He shared often with his kids these fond memories of being able to spend time with his Dad and the wisdom that was shared with him during these special moments.

While attending college at North Texas University he developed a love for the Lord and a passion to share his faith. He was a member of "Campus Crusade." After graduating Chip moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. At this time he met his wife and love, Nancy Harris. Chip and Nancy were married and spent several years in Tulsa, Ok before moving to Tyler TX where they quickly found a home at Green Acres Baptist church. It was there that they found life-long friendships and mentors.

When Chips boys Jordan and Andrew joined Rose City Little League Baseball, Chip found one of his life's passions. Chip began volunteering as an umpire for their baseball teams when needed and quickly developed a love for the job. He continued with umpiring for the next 20 years becoming a respected member of the officiating community, umpiring Little League and Junior College games throughout Texas as well as in Louisiana.

Chip loved and cared for his friends and family to a fault and would do anything for anyone at any time of the day. He prided himself on being constantly available to anyone who needed him.

His life's work was found at CB&I in Tyler Texas where he held an office position for many years. In the recent years, Chip was offered an opportunity to travel with his company where he was able to spend time working in Japan and Louisiana. Chip had an amazing work ethic and showed up early and stayed late throughout most of his time with the company. As a Senior Scheduler Planner, Chip prided himself of meticulous details. Chips latest assignment was in Lake Charles Louisiana where he resided before his untimely passing.

Pall bearers at the services will be: Jordan Harris, Andrew Harris, Paul Wayne Harris, Oscar Martinez, Bill Huston, Tim Harris, Craig Daugherty and Robert Field. Honorary Pall bearers are Pete Peters, Garvis Avants, Marc Ritthaler, Dan Spivey, Doug Hunsley, Steve Appel, Andy Clayton, Randy Hendrix Gaylon Clifton & Lance Bridwell.

Chip was an amazing man, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, mentor and most importantly friend. Chip touched so many lives around him and he will be profoundly missed and remembered by all those he ever came into contact with. May the Lord keep him at his side and may he rest easy knowing he gave all of himself to all those he loved for so many years.
