Services for Bonnie Marie Wright Crawford, 92, of Tyler, will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Tyler with the Rev. Clint Crawford officiating, under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Crawford was born Nov. 23, 1920, in Tyler to the late T.O. and Lillie Chastain Wright and passed away on May 14, 2013, in Tyler. She served her country while in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was one of the first two ladies from Texas to be enlisted in the Marine Corps.
Bonnie was married to the love of her life, Melvin Crawford, for 56 years. She retired as a school teacher after many years from Chapel Hill ISD and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tyler. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Mrs. Crawford is survived by her loving family including sons, David Crawford and wife Toni, of Tyler, and King Crawford and wifeJeanne, of Tyler; daughters, Diane Thiemann and husband Mike, of Denver, Colo., and Carole Walker and husband D. Reid, of Houston; sisters, Lillie Belle Beard Etter, of Tyler, and Mary Adams, of Tyler; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
Pallbearers will be Rob Walker, David Walker, Shafen Crawford, Michael Crawford, Cody Crawford and Caden Crawford.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the funeral home.
