Betty Jo Shaw, 89 of White Oak, passed away on Thursday June 7th 1998. She was born August 9, 1928 in Woodson, Texas to the late Palmer B. Barnes and Idris Moss Barnes. She graduated from White Oak High School, and then attended and graduated from BMI of Longview. She was married for over 50 years to the late Myron Shaw.

Betty was passionate about going to church and loving the Lord. She was a member of The First Christian Church of Gladewater and was quick to share God's love for you. Her family was her most valuable possession. She adored her grandchildren and hers were the best there were. The grandkids could do no wrong; if you would ask her, she would tell you just that.

A person who loved to work and did so, much of her life, her favorite job would be the time she spent at Kilgore Junior College in maintenance. As a simple custodian she touched countless lives with her love and care for people. She was loved by everyone she met. You could not help from loving her because she loved, cared for and worried about you first. A lady who did not know the word or meaning of selfishness!! Ms. Betty was quick to share whatever she had with anyone in need with the belief that was what God would have her to do. Most of her life was not filled with the roses she deserved but she never saw that. She always had an uplifting word, a smile, a hug, and of course some prayer for anyone. The world is a better place because of her 89 years here.

Ms. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Myron; sister, Marilyn Brewer; grandson Kyle Shaw; great grandson, Logan Pinson; and nephew Burton Brewer.

She is survived by her Son Bradley Shaw, wife Bonnie, daughter Dianne Martin, stepson Joe Shaw, wife Joyce, granddaughter Elizabeth Poindexter, grandsons, Kris Martin, Ryan Shaw, Braden Shaw, Joe Shaw, and Rodney Shaw, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Life Celebration funeral will be held Tuesday June 12, 2018 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of Welch Funeral Home with Dr. Raymond Boulter officiating with interment to immediately follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
